• ₹3.17 lakh crore distributed across 59.09 crore accounts implies an average deposit of roughly **₹5,360 **per account, although actual balances are highly unequal.
• Growing balances show that basic accounts can evolve from access points into savings and transaction accounts.
• 41.29 crore RuPay cards provide a domestic card-payment interface linked to many Jan Dhan accounts.
• Account access becomes economically meaningful when combined with regular use, credit, insurance, pensions and digital payments. JAM Trinity
• JAM combines Jan Dhan bank accounts, Aadhaar identity and mobile connectivity to enable targeted digital benefit delivery.
• Direct transfers can reduce delays, duplicate beneficiaries and intermediary leakage when databases are accurate.
• Aadhaar provides identity authentication, Jan Dhan provides the financial endpoint and mobile phones provide communication and transaction access.
• Exclusion errors remain possible when biometric, connectivity, seeding or account-status problems occur. Women and Rural Inclusion
• Women owning 55.7% of accounts gives PMJDY a gender-inclusion dimension beyond aggregate banking penetration.
• Rural and semi-urban areas account for 77.8% of PMJDY accounts, demonstrating that the programme is concentrated outside large metropolitan banking markets.
• Control over an individual bank account can improve privacy and bargaining power in household financial decisions, but ownership does not automatically mean independent usage.
